We're Hiring: Join the Graysons Team as a Butcher / Meat Processor

We're excited to share some big news — Graysons Farmers & Butchers is opening soon at Wentworth Garden Centre, and we're looking for a skilled pair of hands to join us in our farm butchery unit.

Graysons Farmers & Butchers Ltd is a family-run business built on a simple idea: connecting customers directly with the people who produce their food. We're passionate about high-quality, locally sourced meat and food products, and we can't wait to bring that to the Wentworth community.

A New Farm-to-Fork Butchery

As we prepare to open our doors this October, we're building our small but growing team — and this time, we're looking for someone to help us behind the scenes, turning our farm's produce into the retail-ready cuts and products our customers will love.

The Role: Butcher / Meat Processor / Production Team Member

Unlike most job adverts, we're not looking to fill a rigid job description. Instead, we're looking for the right person.

Whether you're a skilled butcher looking for flexible hours, a semi-retired professional wanting to stay involved in the trade, someone with meat processing experience, or an enthusiastic individual keen to learn new skills, we'd love to hear from you. For the right candidate, we'll shape the role around your experience, strengths and availability.

What you could be doing:

  • Breaking down carcasses and primal cuts
  • Producing retail-ready cuts and products
  • Sausage making and burger production
  • Packing and labelling products
  • Preparing customer and shop orders
  • Stock rotation and stock management
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety
  • Supporting the development of new products
  • Helping ensure the retail shop is fully stocked and ready for trade

About you:

  • Takes pride in producing high-quality products
  • Can work independently and manage their own workload
  • Reliable, organised and self-motivated
  • Shares our passion for quality food and local farming
  • Comfortable working within a small family business
  • A positive, practical attitude

Previous butchery or meat processing experience would be highly valued, but it isn't essential — training can be provided for the right person with the right attitude.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay, depending on experience
  • Flexible working hours, to suit you and the business
  • A role tailored to your skills and experience
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Staff discount
  • Company pension
  • The opportunity to join a business from the very beginning, with the chance to help shape it as it grows

The Details

  • Location: Farm Butchery Unit, Nether Haugh, Rotherham
  • Start date: October 2026
  • Hours: Flexible, to suit the right candidate
  • Pay: Competitive, depending on experience
  • Closing date: 18th September

How to Apply

We know that great people don't always fit neatly into a job description. If you have experience in butchery, meat processing, food production, farming, or simply think you could bring something valuable to our business, we'd love to have a conversation.

Whether you're looking for a few days a week, flexible hours around retirement, or a larger role helping us grow the business — to apply, please send your CV to graysonsbutchers@gmail.com telling us about your experience and what you're looking for from your next role. Applications close on 18th September.

We can't wait to meet our newest team member.
